I recently (21.05.26.) had the opportunity to contribute to this discussion during the “Meeting with Main Users – Scientific Community”, organized as part of the Peer Review of the compliance of official statistics in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the European Statistics Code of Practice.
The process was coordinated by the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with Eurostat, with the aim of assessing the quality, professional independence, transparency, and institutional development of the country’s statistical system.
I was formally nominated to represent the Faculty of Business and Administration at the International University of Sarajevo in this process. Together with Professor Ognjen Riđić, I participated in a session that brought together members of the academic community, institutional representatives, and experts to discuss the present and future role of official statistics in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The session therefore provided an important opportunity to discuss the quality, accessibility, and transparency of statistical data, while also identifying areas in which cooperation between statistical institutions and their users could be further strengthened.
Continuing a Positive Institutional Collaboration
Contributing to the improvement of institutional practices and public systems remains an important part of my professional engagement. In this context, I particularly value the highly professional, constructive, and positive collaboration I have developed with the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina has consistently demonstrated that it is a highly professional institution, open to communication, cooperation, and constructive engagement with the academic community.
For two consecutive years, I have had the opportunity to organize student visits to the Agency. During these visits, students become familiar with its work, the statistical data available to researchers and the wider public, and the procedures for requesting additional information that may not be directly accessible through the Agency’s official website or databases.
I am particularly grateful that Bosnia and Herzegovina has such a serious and reliable institution—one that performs its mandate professionally and produces data whose credibility, as was also confirmed during the meeting, is not questioned by the scientific community.
I look forward to continuing and further strengthen this cooperation.
